The Consortium “Italian Centre for Risk Reduction (CI3R)” operates on a non-profit basis with the aim of promoting and sustain the research, the technology transfer and training activities in the field of multi-risk reduction, for a more profitable achievement of the objectives pursued by public policies in this field, in accordance with the relevant national, European and international programmes. CI3R benefits from the multi-risk competence and skills of its three founding entities that are all Competence Centres of the Italian Civil Protection Department, operating in different sectors of catastrophic risks. The three founders of the Consortium are a combination of public and private institutions: the EUCENTRE Foundation, a well-known non-profit training and research centre with dedicated sections specialising in disaster risk research; the ReLUIS Consortium, a no-profit inter-university consortium established with the purpose to develop and coordinate research activities in the field of structural and earthquake engineering and seismic risk; and the CIMA Foundation, a non-profit research organization committed to promote the study, scientific research, technological development and higher education in engineering and environmental sciences, within the fields of civil protection, public health and aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems conservation.

The Civil Protection Department has been grounded in the offices of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers since 1982.
It has a guiding role, in agreement with regional and local governments, of projects and activities for the prevention, forecast and monitoring of risks and intervention procedures that are common to the whole system.
The Department coordinates the response to natural disasters, catastrophes or other events – events of C type – that intensity and extent, should be faced with extraordinary powers and means.
Moreover, also in agreement with the regional governments and local authorities, working in the drafting of legislation on the prevention of risks and regulatory measures needed to cope with disasters and minimize damage to people and property.
It promotes drills, national and international training projects and activities that contribute to spreading the culture of civil protection.

Is a non-profit association that promotes the research, development, training and services in the domain of Industrial Aerodynamics.
ADAI has been developing, since its foundation and in co-ordination with national and international institutions, a great number of actions aiming the implementation and development of knowledge in its specific scientific areas. One of the main objectives of this association is the creation and management of scientific and technological infra-structures, in particular the Laboratory of Industrial Aerodynamics and the Forest Fire Research Laboratory.
